New Mexican bills bearing denominations of five hundred pesos are presented at the Banco de Mexico, the Central Bank of Mexico. Under the Constitution, the bank is autonomous in its operations and management.

The new bills have images of Mexican artists Diego Rivera, a painter and active communist and Frida Kahlo, a passionate painter, remembered for the use of vibrant and bold colours in her paintings.
