It’s not just the current generation that’s been bitten by the Twitter bug. After internet savvy Bollywood legend Shammi Kapoor joined Twitter a few weeks ago, India’s evergreen singing star, 76-year-old Asha Bhosle, joined the microblogging website on Wednesday.

Asha tai, as she’s fondly called, has immediately taken a liking to Twitter. Within a day of joining, Bhosle tweeted 62 times, replying to fans, and having Twitter conversations with other well-known personalities like Pritish Nandy, Rajdeep Sardesai, Anupam Kher, Sanjay Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan and Kapoor himself.

On her very first tweet, Bhosle announced that she had finished recording her live album with Shujaat Khan, “Whew! Finished recording an all live album with sitar maestro Shujaat Khan (son of legendary Ustad Villayat Khan). Felt like good old days.”

After around 15 tweets, where she replied to the tweets of Nandy, Kapoor and Sardesai, she confessed, “This is addictive, but must go for my riyaaz. She later told a fan that it was her son, Anand Bhosle, who introduced her to “this world”.

Bhosle has evidently been enjoying her newfound hobby, and in these two days, has been using it primarily to catch up with her old friends like Kapoor. The two exchanged tweets, making a plan to speak over the phone. In one tweet, she also lamented on the fate of contestants of reality shows.

Goodnight. Have to tell grandkids Sindbad story. Thanks to all for warm welcome. Tomorrow is another day and it never dies...
Twitter = Insomnia.
I feel sad for all those reality show contestants. They never seem to make it big.
To Sanjay Dutt: Duttsaab, are you going to sing Aapke Dil Mein Thodisi Jaga Chahiye?
To Shammi Kapoor: Bhaiya Namaste. We should speak on the phone too.
To Anupam Kher: Anupamji, I so agree with you. You are funny as usual. Ha ha
To Amitabh Bachchan: Jayaji and Amitji wishing you a very happy wedding anniversary, from your friend and admirer.
