Ashutosh Gowariker, known for directing lengthy films such as Lagaan and Jodhaa Akbar, will now direct one that will last only three minutes and will have no spoken words.

Ashutosh Gowariker, known for directing lengthy films such as Lagaan and Jodhaa Akbar, will now direct one that will last only three minutes and will have no spoken words.

The Earth Foundation, an NGO working for the cause of the girl child, contacted Gowariker for the same. "He is happy to be a part of our initiative," said chairman Manmohan Bhagat.

"I'm delighted to make the short film on the theme of the girl child," said Gowariker. The film will be aired in cinema halls and as an advertising clip on television channels to spread the message of the girl child initiative.
