Boman Irani, famous for films like the Munnabhai series and 3 Idiots, says he kept rejecting lead roles until acclaimed film director Shyam Benegal offered him the chance of his lifetime.

Bollywood actor Boman Irani, famous for films like the Munnabhai series and 3 Idiots, says he kept rejecting lead roles until acclaimed film director Shyam Benegal offered him the chance of his lifetime.

"I was overjoyed when I was offered the title role in Well Done Abba. I was ready for the role even before I heard the story because you don't ask questions when it is Shyam Benegal's film. It is the chance of a lifetime," he told PTI in an interview.

Irani plays the role of a driver working in Mumbai in the political satire Well Done Abba, which also stars Minnisha Lamba and Ila Arun. It will release on March 26.

However, this was not the first time that the 52-year-old actor, who debuted with a cameo appearance in the SRK-starrer Josh in 2000, was offered a lead role.

Last year he was seen as the protagonist in Little Zizou, a film revolving around the lives of the Parsi community.
