Watching a business show where common people realise their dreams and overcome challenges is intellectually entertaining,” asserts Boman Irani who hosts the business show The Pitch, when asked if such a show can gain popularity. He earlier hosted Bollywood Ka Boss, where he quizzed people on films.
Business leaders like R Gopalkrishnan, Kishore Biyani, N. Damodaran, Karan Johar, Mahesh Bhupati among others will test ten short listed participants on business acumen, leadership and analytical skills. “There is no dearth of ideas but the buck always stops at the funds and through this show we will provide funds as well as direction. The winner gets up to Rs 5 crore to start his own business,” says Bloomberg UTV Business Head Deepak Lamba.
About why he chose to host the show Irani says, “When my son launched his event management company, I was very proud of him and had decided if I get a chance to encourage entrepreneurs, I would do that. So when I was offered The Pitch, I didn’t think twice.”
Talking about his camaraderie with business leaders on the show, Irani says, “I bonded very well with N Damodaran. His love for football is infectious. We spoke about his favourite players, the best matches he has seen. He can actually compare two football world cups and give you an analysis. He also writes reviews of football games. It was amazing to know the person behind those prim and proper business suits. Rahul Bajaj and I bonded over movies. He is a huge movie buff.”
