Farhan Akhtar’s happy-go-lucky act as Imraan in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara seems to have impressed young audiences. How else would you explain more than 115 colleges vying for his participation in their respective annual college festivals? In fact, a lot of the colleges held surveys to decide which star the college would like and Farhan proved to be the unanimous choice.
Apparently, the list of colleges includes IIT Kanpur, IIM Ahmedabad, Medical College in Manipal and Symbiosis among others. IIT Kharagpur, in fact, has requested Farhan to give them a lecture on any topic he would chose for their cultural festival. “We had an internal poll about which star we would like and Farhan Akhtar came out on top of our list. We all connect with him and his films,” says Arpita Maheshwari of IIT Kharagpur.
Similarly, Sanyukta Iyer of Symbiosis says “we are very keen to have Farhan Akhtar because we love him as an actor and he is a huge star. We all are his big fans.”
When contacted, Farhan confirms: “Yes, my team has received a lot of requests from colleges.” Interestingly, his first directorial, Dil Chahta Hai (2001), caught the pulse of the youth a long time ago. And the success of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara so many years later has only made the youth swear by him once again. The Zoya Akhtar film, that also starred Abhay Deol, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif, reportedly did business of about R 100 crore in the country.

At the moment, on the professional front, Farhan is busy editing of his upcoming directorial venture, Don 2. After the release of the film that stars Shah Rukh Khan, he will start preparing for his next acting venture Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which will be directed by Rakeysh Ompraksh Mehra.
Then, he is likely to start work on the Rock On!! (2008) sequel and Abhishek Kapoor’s adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s best-selling novel, The 3 Mistakes Of My Life.
