Renewing your friendship with your ex can be quite a task. While some people don’t make the effort because they are wary of the repercussions, there are others who will tell you that it can’t be done at all.

You will find a similar pattern in Bollywood too. Whether it’s Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor who broke up in 2007 or Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan, who parted ways in 2004, couples have preferred to avoid working together post their break-up. However, last year, Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor displayed maturity by agreeing to work together in Karan Johar’s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani despite their much-publicised break-up.

Ask Deepika how difficult it is to befriend your ex and she replies, “I didn’t plan the break-up, neither did I plan to become friends again. Every relationship has its own journey. Ranbir and I are friends today, but I’ll say it’s an individualistic decision. Some people can manage it and some cannot. I believe it is possible to be friends with your ex if you are ready to let go of the past and stop wondering what went wrong.”

So how does she deal with reports about them getting back? “There is nothing to deal with. I know ours is pure friendship and nothing else. What we have today is beautiful and I don’t want to spoil that.”
