DJing brought out his Mojo

But more than just wearing his uber-sensual nationality, Christophe Le Fraint, better known, as his DJ name Bob Sinclar – is the reason the last decade has club anthems to dance to. World Hold On and Rock This Party are just some of his other namesake tracks that got him consoles in party destination like Ibiza and a Grammy nomination too.

At the heart of it all, Sinclar is just a French man who loves a good ‘house’ party. “I grew up listening to a lot of house music, so when I started mixing tapes in 1986, I had this idea of putting together French narrative samples in house music,” says DJ Sinclar whose first track Gym Tonic, co-produced by Thomas Bangalter of electronic outfit Daft Punk featured vocals illegally taken from a Jane Fonda fitness tape in French.

“Irreverent disco culture is what I wanted to start and managed to in the nineties and there is something about retro music. It’s happy and upbeat. Plus you can go crazy with adding samples to it,” says DJ Sinclar, who says he borrowed his DJ name from the French movie, Magnifique about a super hero called Bob Sinclar.

Though unsure about Indian music, DJ Sinclar thinks if he got to use a Bollywood melody as a sample, it would make for his next great track. “From what I’ve heard on the radio here while traveling, Bollywood music sounds completely retro.
I fancy the idea, yes,” he says.
