Chief minister Sheila Dikshit and her cabinet of ministers plan to take time out this Wednesday for some entertainment. And what pray shall they watch? UTV’S A Wednesday — a film based on terrorism starring Anupam Kher as a Mumbai Police commissioner and Naseeruddin Shah who plays a terrorist.

Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the movie is about events that unfold between 2 pm and six pm on one particular Wednesday. The events, of which there are no records, have deep repercussions on the lives of all involved — the police officers, terrorists, politicians and the janta.

The film has an unusual and interesting promotional plan. The filmmakers planned three private screenings of the film. One was held in Ahmedabad last Sunday with CM Narendra Modi as the guest of honour. In Mumbai, AN Roy along with other top cops will be seeing the film today and then it’s Delhi’s turn on Wednesday. In Delhi, CM Sheila Dikshit will also be accompanied by the stars, Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher.

When quizzed Pandey said, “Though they are very big names (and also very busy) to catch hold of but my film is just 105 minutes so they could spare some time out to see it.” Since his film revolves around terrorism, politics, police and the public, Pandey feels “these people connect with the storyline as they belong to the political strata of the society.”
