Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes' baby's name may have been inspired from one of actor's characters in a movie, it has been revealed.

Mendes, who has named her daughter Esmeralda Amada, is said to inspired from her role in Mendes' character in We Own the Night where Mendes played Amada, TMZ.com reported.

The name Esmeralda may have come from '96 Disney flick, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. It can also be a reference to Mendes' character of the same name on the television series, V.I.P.

Gosling, 33, and Mendes, 40, welcomed their baby girl on September 12. The couple, who has been together since September 2011, has yet to comment publicly on Mendes' pregnancy or the birth of their first child together.
