, has been written and composed by Vikramjit Singh Sahney and Jeeto G, and sung by Shibani Kashyap and Milind Singh.

We quizzed Satish Bidla — the man inside the Shera costume — on how it feels to have a song especially composed for him. “I am happy that I have a song on me. It’s such a great experience to be the mascot for such an event. Wherever I go, I hear people shout,

Shera, Shera

. They want to click pictures with me and shake hands with me,” says Bidla.

Commonwealth games

“The mascot is the essence of the Games. So, why not an anthem for him?” says Shibani. “The song is full of energy, and the idea is to get people involved and promote a positive spirit towards the Games.” The song has three parts — Hindi, English and Punjabi. It even has a punch line:

! “We have tried to cover the languages that the people of Delhi speak,” says Sahney. “And, of course, the people of Delhi really relate to Shera.”

However, despite this being the fourth song dedicated to the Games, people wonder why they are not being heard throughout the capital. “Barely 20 days to go and I can’t hum along to any song even now,” says Ira, a student.
