With Valentine’s Day around the corner, love is definitely in the air. And you don’t have to be a human being to celebrate it. You can bring in the day by attending a dog wedding at the Dog A’Fair. The two-day carnival, which is being held over the weekend and caters exclusively to pet parents and their pooches, will see two Shih-Tzus, Mishti (the bride) and Google (the groom), tie the knot on February 12.

“With the carnival coinciding with Valentine’s Day, we wanted to do something around the theme. Our doggiemonials (matchmaking for pooches) had got a great response last time around, so we took it forward,” says Farzana Contractor, key organiser of Dog A’Fair.

At the wedding, Mishti and Google, dressed in a white dress and a tuxedo respectively, will take their vows at 5 pm at Radio Club, Colaba. They will exchange diamond-studded dog collars instead of rings. “Gupta, a collar exporter from Nagpur, approached us and said he wanted to create the collars,” says Rozina Gaziyani,
co-organiser.

Sonal D'Souza from Bandra (parent of the bride) and Altaf and Ajay (parents of the groom) from Juhu, will then take the wedding vows on their pets’ behalf. The vows include lines like ‘I promise to help you bury your bones’. “However, we won’t go overboard as we don’t want to stress the dogs,” says Gaziyani.
