Though the two Deols — Sunny and Bobby — share a great camaraderie with dad Dharmendra in their upcoming film, Yamla Pagla Deewana, they have no qualms accepting that even now, they’re scared of their father in real life.

“Both Bobby and I would never behave with him the way we have, in the movie ... not even in our wildest dreams. We are scared of him and that is out of the sheer respect for him,” says Sunny, even at the age of 54.

“This has been the case since our childhood. Having said that, when we are working together, it’s a completely different thing,” says the actor, who was at PVR Cinemas in Delhi to promote the film.

He adds, “We live in the same house as a joint family. And I believe that a father is a father, and there should be a certain gap between a father and his children. If he becomes your friend, what are your other friends for?”

What about the bond between the two brothers? “There is an age gap of 11 years between Bobby and me. I treat him like my third son. And, Bobs is pretty scared of his bhaiyya!”

On being asked if his sons are scared of him, too, he says, “Yes, I guess that’s in the family (smiles)!”

Sunny’s dad and veteran actor Dharmendra, too, agrees with his son when it comes to the ‘fear factor’: “I, too, was scared of my dad, out of respect. That’s the reason my kids fear me.”
