Bollywood actresses seem to have gone on a gifting spree. The glam divas have taken to thanking their co-stars and crew members with gifts once shooting for their films has wrapped up. From giving perfumes, clothes and cards with thoughtful messages to cold cash, they’re making sure the crew knows that they matter.
Recently, Priyanka Chopra bought gifts for the whole team of Pyaar Impossible when the first schedule of the film got over. For her co-star Uday Chopra, she bought a digital camera. Celina Jaitley, who gifted T-shirts to the entire team of Paying Guests, says, “I bought T-shirts with slogans that suited the personality of the crew member it was meant for.” Deepika Padukone, who used to paint on the sets of Love Aaj Kal, gifted her paintings to the crew members on the last day of the shoot. “There was a canvas and paint on the set. In between shots, I would make something. Later on, I found out that certain members of the crew took my work home and now it adorns their walls.”
Actress Neetu Chandra says her gifts are reserved for people she gets increasingly fond of on the sets. “There was an assistant director who I was very fond of and she liked a skirt I wore. After the shooting got over, I got a similar skirt made and sent it to her place,” she says. Katrina Kaif had recently distributed money on the sets of her film Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani. “The crew was very helpful and co-operative. It is the best shooting schedule I’ve ever had. This was my of expressing my gratitude and saying ‘thank you’.” Actress Koena Mitra, who is also fond of gifting on the sets of every film, says, “My staff calls me Santa.
