The Kolkata Knight Riders played their best to win the Indian Premier League final against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, but not without their share of luck. The entire team, including owner Shah Rukh Khan, kept their best charms close to court Lady Luck.

And, it worked. Right from redesigning the team’s jersey to appearing for every match with his lucky mascot — daughter Suhana and the rest of the ‘bachcha party’, SRK and his knights were at their superstitious best.

“Since last year, we couldn’t even make it to the top four, I was told that black colour for the jersey was not lucky so we moved to purple,” SRK had said before the tournament began.

Numerologist Sanjay B Jumaani, on whose suggestion KKR changed the jersey colour and logo, says, “The black colour and the burning skull logo in their helmet were inauspicious; changing both got them the trophy.”

The team’s CEO Venky Mysore says, “I too uttered a small prayer before every match.” KKR captain Gautam Gambhir was also seen wearing his pads till the end in every game, including the finals.
