This will be the first Eid for Sanjay and Manyaata Dutt’s twins, Shahraan and Iqra, born on October 21 last year. The star admits that his life has changed since the two angels entered his life, saying, “My wife is the best thing to have happened to me. I’m so happy and at peace today.”
As a thanksgiving gesture, Sanjay decided to sponsor the 200 packets of ration that were distributed at the Iftar party hosted by the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) last evening.
“Three-and-a-half years ago, we started Basera, a shelter for the needy and retired. For the past 45 months, we have distributed monthly rations to 200 industry workers and sponsored the education of 60 children,” informs Dharmesh Tiwary, general secretary of CINTAA and president of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (WFWICE).
The Iftar party is an annual event. Earlier, IIFA would sponsor 100 packets and a star or film patron would offer another 100.
“This year, Sanju baba (Sanjay Dutt) insisted on paying for all 200. Each packet contains five kgs of rice and wheat, two types of dal at one kg each, packets of oil, ghee, sugar, besan and tea leaves. As an Eid special, there’s a packet of ‘sewaiyya’ too so they can make Sheer Khurma,” adds Tiwary.
Manyaata herself has prepared Sheer Khurma for the family Eid celebrations at the Dutt’s Bandra home this afternoon that will be attended by his sisters, Namrata and Priya with their husbands and children and a few select friends. Tomorrow, Priya will be bringing Ganpati to her home, and the couple will relocate to another floor in the same building to carry on the festivities.
