It was reported that during an interaction with American TV host, Jimmy Kimmel, the actor had hinted at getting engaged in the next few months. But ask her about this, and Freida laughs.
“There’s absolutely no truth to this. It’s as much a rumour as the Bond girl story was,” says the Slumdog Millionaire actor. Danny Boyle’s film had brought the couple together on the big screen in 2008.
“Fans get excited when such stories come out, but we don’t want to mislead anyone. That’s why celebrities make an extra effort to give clarifications. I honestly don’t care, because those who know me, know the truth,” says Freida, who will be seen in Michael Winterbottom’s Trishna next.
Ever since Freida and London-based actor Dev began seeing each other, stories about their engagement and marriage have constantly made headlines.
“I guess a lot of actors who are in relationships have to face this, and we are no exceptions. But we try and not get too upset about it. We don’t divulge much, but if people want to write about things, I don’t have control over and, I won’t lose sleep over it,” says Freida, who recently made news for supposedly moving-in with Dev, after the two were spotted moving boxes in an apartment in the US. Freida, of course, denies it.
Ask the Mumbai girl if marriage is on the cards in the near future and she says “Well, I hope so. But I’m not thinking about it right now because there are so many things to do and achieve. Marriage can’t be an instant decision. It’s a massive responsibility. It’s not like you wake up one morning and say, ‘ok, let’s get married today.’”
