Actors Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra have decided to put their past behind. The stars, who have not been on talking terms for the past six years, following rumours of a steamy affair and subsequent ‘ban’ imposed on them by Akshay’s wife Twinkle, were spotted chatting for a long time at a Mumbai hotel on Wednesday.
Sources say Akshay and Priyanka met like long lost friends when they bumped into each other during the rehearsals of a television awards show. “They met amicably and one could hardly make out that they were talking for the past six years. Akshay praised Priyanka’s performance at the Awards show and she thanked him. The conversation went on for about 10 minutes,” said an eyewitness.
Once Bollywood’s hottest on-screen couple, Akshay and Priyanka broke all ties with each other after the success of their film Aitraaz gave fire to rumours of a rocking affair during its making. Their sizzling on and off screen chemistry did not go down too well with Akshay’s wife Twinkle. After a very public face off between the the couple at a Mumbai 5-star, Twinkle threatened to walk out on Akshay if he did not severe all ties with Priyanka. They duo last starred together in Vipul Shah’s Waqt and did not sign any movies with each other thereafter. They also always ignored each other’s presence in public.
Last week, Priyanka did not attend Neeta Ambani and boxer Vijender Singh’s parties in Mumbai and Delhi respectively where Akshay was present with his wife. “I had invited both Akshay and Priyanka and they had even confirmed their presence. But Priyanka did not turn up at the last moment,” said Vijender.

It was Priyanka’s ex-secretary Prakash Jaju who was responsible for those stories about the affair. On Wednesday, Akshay saw her at the rehearsals and waited to appreciate. It was a warm gesture.They don’t want to turn it into national news by commenting on it as it was a chance meeting and should not be blown out of proportion,” said a friend not wanting to be named.
Despite attempts, both actors remained unavailable for comment.
