Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is set to be honoured by a gay rights group at the 21st annual GLAAD Media Awards in March. Nixon, who came out as a lesbian after splitting from long-time partner Danny Mozes in 2003, will be handed the Vito Russo Award for her gay rights work at a New York ceremony.

“Cynthia Nixon has been a vocal and visible advocate who has transformed cultural attitudes about our community,” the Daily Express quoted GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios as saying.
