Recently, newspapers and channels were flooded with images of the venue of the Commonwealth Games (CWG). The pictures, which were borrowed from the BBC website, threw ample light on the inadequacies of the arrangement made for the international participants to reside in and more. But no other side was presented; at least not on any public forum.

Meanwhile, a tiny verbal revolt is brewing on the Internet. Enthusiasts are currently circulating pictorial proof of the brighter side of the Games on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Images of the rooms, the games arena, and the stadium seem to present a different picture.

Ruchira Swarup posted a note on Facebook saying, “We should support the Games wholeheartedly. Because in doing so, we come together to show the world that we can still put up our show despite scams and corruption. The media should act more responsibly.”

Discussions on blogs about how the Games are not as bad as the media is making them out to be are also afloat on the web. Vee, a blogger, comments on a similar discussion, “I think it’s time we stoppped the criticism. Obviously the media is only interested in their ratings. There is not even a single motivating article from them.”
