Buzz karo
Morning my muhallabias. I was slurping spoonfuls of this exotic Arabian dessert, in the middle of a desert, with a
million dollars worth sheikh at my side, when Graham Bell’s invention jolted me awake from the sweetest dream.
And all this for a tiddy bitty on Harman Baweja. Seems, producer Ajit Pal came up with a brainwave to make the thanda thanda Victory more garma garam. To generate some much needed buzz for their ball game, which releases this Friday, Pal suggested that his hero spread the news that he had ditched steady date Priyanka Chopra for his reel life love, Amrita Rao.
Fortunately for Piggy Chops Har-Man turned every shade of red and purple. His petite heroine felt equally betrayed by the hype hoopla. As for PC, she opted out of a television show recently when she learnt that Rao was also a part of the star line-up. Hmm!
Meanwhile, Harman has conveyed to Pal that he will continue to promote the film, irrespective of whether the filmmaker stands by him or not. On Tuesday, Amrita and he were in the capital flashing their bravest smiles. Meanwhile, Pal Pal is keeping his fingers crossed, hoping for a much-needed victory. Hmm!
Knot now
Grr! Here’s Madhu my Mottu wanting to tell me that Govinda is maha miffed with Vashu Bhagnani. What’s more, Riteish Deshmukh is also upset with the self-proclaimed Producer No 1.
If the bore had been around, I would have shown her the door. But Mottu’s smart.. she’s keeping her distance. She’s using Graham Bell’s invention too and I have no choice but to listen to her bakbak bakwas.
To return to Uncle Go Go and Deshmukh bhai, the duo have committed hazaar dates to Do Knot Disturb only to be told that bhaag bhaag Bhagnani has put the movie on hold. So the duo now are sitting at home and twiddling their thumbs. Boo woo!
The only one not complaining is director David Dhawan. He has started shooting Hook Ya Crook with dashing dude John Abraham and the gentle Genelia D’Souza. I’ve hung up on Mottu after advising her to tell her bekaar dosts to hook up with David instead. Think I’ll put the Do Not Disturb sign up on my boudoir door just in case Mottu returns with more gup on the Bhagnani types.
Casting ouch
He has done it again. I’m talking of Nikhil Advani who has rubbed Rohan Sippy the wrong way. One of my jasoos types tells me that the nirdeshak of Chandni Chowk to Choona Town had changed the script liberally, after locking it with nirmata Sippy and the film’s cast.
Given the film’s fate at the box-office, can’t blame Sippy for resolving never to team up with Advani again. I’ve been informed by my jasoos that his co-producers have scheduled a meeting with Advani in the coming week.. to reconsider their deal with him.
Meanwhile, his next project is taking its own sweet time. As the creative director of Basra, Advani has a say in its casting. And while he’s okay with Akshaye Khanna, he’s unsure about the second lead.
When director Navdeep Singh suggested Emraan Hashmi, Advani reportedly told him it is beneath his dignity to even talk to the serial kisser. Huh? Really now! Methinks, after their war of words over money some months ago, it would be interesting to cast the two actors in a movie together. But then, you can’t expect much from Advani. Not after CC2C!

I’ve heard so much about producers and directors being harassed by interfering actors that it’s a welcome surprise to hear about Manoj Bajpai’s creative cooperation on Jugaad, based on the sealing drive undertaken by the Delhi
Municipal Corporation a couple of years ago.
Seems Bajpai wasn’t convinced with certain things in the second half. But instead of turning high and mighty, Manoj sat down and discussed his misgivings with director Anand Kumar and producer Sandeep Kapoor.. and they didn’t need to think too hard to agree that Bajpai was right. Now if only more directors discussed their scripts with Bajpai bhai, they wouldn’t have had so many daags on their careers.

South calling
Mottu’s back.. buzzing repeatedly to tell me that Rajeev Khandelwal has signed up for a Malayalam movie to be directed by Major Ravi, who’s also making a movie on the Kandahar hijack with Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan. And here I was thinking Khandelwal was gung-ho about starting director John Owen’s Peter Gaya Kaam Se with
Chitrangada Singh early next month.
Mottu tells me that the Peter story has been postponed yet again, much to Khandelwal’s disappointment. First it was delayed by the holiday season in Goa. And now, for reasons best known to the nirdeshak and nirmatas, shooting has been rescheduled for March. Kya karen.. after all, such is life dearies.
