Being in the limelight is not new for tennis star Sania Mirza. She has been in public eye since the time she started playing tennis professionally (in 2003) at the age of 17. Sania was then, and is still the highest ranked woman tennis player in Indian history, and has many other firsts to her credit.

Though she has tied a knot with Pakistani cricketer, Shoaib Malik, Mirza is determined to religiously concentrate on her career. To give 100 per cent to her game, Mirza focusses hard on her fitness regime. “I spend four hours daily on court, working on and perfecting my game.

This is followed by two hours of physical training, which is split into two sessions — one hour of strength training in the gym and the remaining hour to improve speed and agility,” says Mirza, who is also the cover girl of the May issue of Prevention India magazine.

Mirza also keeps a tab on what she eats and takes a well-balanced diet that includes lots of vegetables, proteins, carbs (rice, chapatis) and milk to maintain calcium levels. “Athletes require a lot of energy, especially ahead of a match. I take energy drinks on the day of the match,” she says.
