As Obama-mania gripped the country, everyone, from politicians and socialities to industrialists and artistes, was pulling all strings just to get a chance to be in the same room as the President.
But, while many a heart was broken, beauty czarina, Shahnaz Husain not only got to be in the same room with President Obama, but also chatted with him about a number of things, including Ayurveda. Shahnaz Husain was invited to meet President Obama as he addressed a high level business delegation in Mumbai during his official state visit recently. Other business heads invited to meet the President included Mukesh Ambani and Anand Mahindra.
“President Obama is a such a charming man. He spent time meeting all the delegates, and was very amiable. He spoke about a lot of things, including how important India is becoming for the US,” says Husain of her meeting with the world’s most powerful man. “We talked about how Ayurveda is all set to become the biggest thing in the world. I told him about my plans to bring my line to the US.
He responded with a big smile and said that there’s no doubt that Americans would love natural products.” Husain is also all praise for other members of the US delegation, including Pepsico’s head Indira Nooyi. “Nooyi is a charming woman. One feels really proud to see Indians at important leadership positions all over the world,” she said.
