“God, I don’t know the number and I don’t know the count. But I keep telling myself I should never go into love the next time, remembering that I’ve been hurt before,” Barrymore said. “I’ve spent a lot of time in my life dedicating myself to love or the pursuit of love or the understanding of love. And now I’ve stopped believing in happy endings and I’ve started believing in good days,” she added.

The American beauty shot to fame as a child starring in Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. “I didn’t have the kind of childhood or family life that would have given me any perspective on what a happy relationship would feel like.So I haven’t had as much success in my relationships as I would have liked,” Barrymore said.

“I realised it was a waste of time to be angry at my parents and feel sorry for myself. I have been much more objective about my childhood and my relationship with my mother in these last few years,” she said.
