India representative Tanvi Singla lost to beauties from France, Korea, Russia and Indonesia at the Miss Asia Pacific World 2011 beauty pageant that was held on October 16 in Korea.

But the 19-year-old model calls herself a ‘winner’. “I gave my 100% and I believe being among the top five is as good as winning. In my eyes I have won the contest,” says Singla, who was trained for a month under former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen’s company, I Am She. Singla is upset with the lack of appreciation for her achievement.

On losing the title
When you are competing against countries like Venezuela and Philippines, where pageants are worshipped, it becomes hard to gain that extra attention.

On lack of praise
Only people who are aware of my achievement appreciated it. Unfortunately people in our country are not well informed about pageants because of lack of media attention.

On mentor Sush
The one month in which I trained with her was the most amazing time of my life. Sushmita is not just a beautiful woman but a great mentor to groom under.

On Sush’s reaction
She was my support system at the pageant. Once, I was crowned, she burst into tears as it was the first international victory for her brand I Am She as well.

On Sush vs Lara
Though they both were fabulous in their own way, I will choose Sushmita as my favourite Miss Universe because of the personal bond that I share with her.
