Rohan Antao is not aware that fiancee Freida Pinto has dumped him. When HT City spoke to the 25-year old director of a marketing firm in Mumbai, who is suddenly in the news for being ‘dumped’ by the Slumdog star, he expressed shock and said, “Let me speak with her. Has she really given this statement [about breaking off with him] to the media? She could be talking about something else.”
Interestingly, his FaceBook status message still says ‘Engaged’. According to news agencies, Freida confided in friends that “she had been presented with an incredible opportunity but would not be able to make the most of it if she was tied down.” Responding to this, Antao, who seemed to be in denial, said, “Are you sure Freida said this? I haven’t updated my FaceBook since last year. I am a very private person. I don’t know what to say to you…if I’m engaged to her, dating her or even if I know her, please understand ”
Antao reportedly supported Pinto in her modelling and acting career and even helped her develop her website besides handling publicity for her. The two met at St Xavier’s college a few years ago. A close friend of the couple said, “It’s a classic case of ‘girl zooms ahead and boy stays behind’”.
In an earlier interview Freida had said, “At the moment...my profession dominates my life... Do you have any proof [about the engagement]? No one has the right to spoil my happiness.”
