It is the first film to be released after the producer-multiplex row, but on D-day, all is not well. Vivek Sharma, the director of Kal Kissne Dekha, says producer Vashu Bhagnani and his son Jacky are misbehaving with him, avoiding him and not giving due importance to his demands.
“I have only been paid 30% of what I had been promised. Plus, Bhagnani has made changes to the film, edited it and cut portions of some actors. He has not shown the film to anyone. It is not Jacky Bhagnani but Rishi Kapoor who is the real hero, and even he hasn’t been shown the film.”
Sharma, who had filed a lawsuit against Bhagnani in the Mumbai High Court four days ago, withdrew it on Wednesday.
Explaining why he decided not to seek a stay on the film, he says, “I withdrew the case because my guru Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh ji asked me to sort things outside court. Though I have suffered losses, this is how Indian film industry works. But I will still fight for my passion and self respect.”
However, Vashu Bhagnani says Vivek is crossing the line. “The film releases at 12 pm today. I can pay him even at 11 am. He should not be talking about money. I paid him Rs 52 lakhs in March and if he is saying he has been paid only 30%, did I sign him on for one-and-a-half crores? He is too big a person for me to comment on. Leave it at this,” he says sarcastically.
Sharma alleges Bhagnani has deliberately denied everybody publicity in the film to promote his son. “Where is Vaishali (Desai)? Even I am not a part of the film’s promotion. He wants his son to get all the publicity — the son who already thinks he has arrived and started misbehaving with unit members on the sets. He even refused to dub some lines during the post production. I am not going to be a part of any of the functions related to the film. I don’t want to jeopardise it, but I am very upset,” he adds.
