Bollywood heroines are clearly not worried about the ‘married’ tag anymore.
After Kareena Kapoor and Vidya Balan, now Dia Mirza is planning to tie the knot with director-producer Sahil Sangha early next year.
“I will get married early next year. It will be a close knit traditional wedding,” reveals Dia. She adds, “The boy is from Delhi, I’m from Hyderabad, but we live in Bombay, so I don’t know where the wedding will take place. But it’ll be traditional.”
And, will she continue working in films after marriage? “Of course. I think that the audience in India has evolved. The way we perceive women at large — whether in the media, entertainment or corporate industry, has changed. There was a time when an air hostess could not continue with work after marriage or a multinational bank would not be keen on hiring a married woman, fearing lack of commitment. That has changed,” she says.
Dia further says, “We have enough examples of women doing wonderful work after marriage. Vidya Balan is a perfect example of a successfully married actor. She’s a dear friend. I worked with her on her first film. I’ve really seen her grow. I feel personal pride when I see her success.”

Keeping a low profile after her last co-production, Love Breakups Zindagi (LBZ), Dia will now be back in action. “After LBZ, everybody kept asking me, why aren’t you coming up with a new film? But films are not like peanuts that you just toss in a pan and serve to people. A lot of work goes into crafting a new story,” she says, adding, “My next film goes on floors in two and a half months. It will be a coming-of-age thriller with an author backed female role.”
Dia, who was in town recently to receive the asiaSpa award for being eco-crusader of the year, says, “I’ve never had any corrective surgery done on myself or used supplements... I feel blessed.”
