Teen star Demi Lovato has slammed critics who are chastising her for gaining weight and says they need to "get over it".

The 19-year-old songstress underwent three months of treatment for a series of emotional issues, including an eating disorder earlier this year.

She was snapped with a fuller figure in a silver mini-dress at Sunday's Mtv Video Music Awards. Her healthier and curvier figure has invited criticisms and the Sonny With a Chance star has defended herself sayiing she is happy with herself, reported Us magazine.

"Guess what? I'm healthy and happy, and if you're hating my weight you obviously aren't," tweeted Lovato. Bullied for her weight as a kid, Lovato developed an eating disorder that turned into a lifelong struggle with food.

"That's kind of what I've been dealing with ever since. I was compulsively overeating when I was eight years old. So, I guess, for the past 10 years, I've had a really unhealthy relationship with food," said Lovato.
