Call India regressive and actor Sherlyn Chopra is ready to fight. That’s why actor Mallika Sherawat’s recent "repressive and depressed" comments about India didn’t go down well with her.

"To each her own! I belong to the India where I see progression and non-sexism. If there was any truth to her statement, people like me would have been out of work," says Sherlyn, who was seen promoting her film, Kamasutra 3D at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

Sherlyn, who was in the city on Saturday, may be known for her bold image, but she doesn’t take her vanity too seriously. "Without make-up I’m much more like a girl next-door," says the 29-year-old, who desires to work with next James Bond director Sam Mendes. "If he gets to read this he’d know I’m dying to be the next bond girl," she says.

Mallika Sherawat brings back our love for fake accents

Mallika Sherawat turned into a star overnight (on Twitter) all thanks to her controversial Variety interview at Cannes where she blatantly relayed incorrect statements she thinks to be true about India and that too in a rather funny accent. Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra rebuked Mallika for calling India "regressive" and took it quite personally. Check out Priyanka's reaction here. But Priyanka wasn’t alone. Here is what some prominent tweeple had to say.

Mini Mathur @minimathur directly attacked Mallika for her opinions. "How is Mallika Sherawat being allowed to be so STUPID? UGH," she tweeted.
