Author Chetan Bhagat freaked out on Thursday when someone posted a message from his Twitter account. "I just lost 8 pounds in a week, wow. For people curious about which diet, go to...," read the tweet, giving a link to another website.
Immediately after this, Bhagat reacted saying, “Eeeps, the previous tweet was a spam. I didn’t type it, neither have I lost 8 pounds/week. This is scary.”
Imposters on Twitter aren’t new. Early this year, Madhur Bhandarkar’s account was hacked and he was dragged into the My Name Is Khan controversy.
Director Sajid Khan says, “It is scary to know that somebody’s misusing your name, but those who know how I think and write can identify an imposter.”
Singer Sophie Choudry shares her experience saying, “There are several imposters using my name. I had to call my friends up and tell them it isn’t me.”
