After preaching Walk ‘n’ Talk, Abhishek Bachchan is now endorsing Aaram classes. We find out the reason for this shift
You’re making your television debut on the same channel on which your father hosted another show. Are you fearing the comparisons?
No. why should I? Pa’s role in Big Boss is totally different from mine. His was a reality show, mine is a game show.
What’s led you to the small screen?
The concept of the show, Bingo, appealed to me. A show like this has never been played on Indian TV before. I liked the fact that even the viewer sitting at home gets to play the game and win.
Are you as lazy in real life as you are in the show’s promos?
Actually I’m not. Our work keeps us on our toes. Being an active member of the film industry makes it very tough to be lazy. You really have to work towards it (being lazy! ).
What’s the one recent ‘news’ about you that shocked you the most?
Nothing really shocks me!
After preaching walk and talk in one of your ads, you’re endorsing aaraam classes for your new show. Isn’t that a contrast?
Not at all. Our walk and talk campaign taught the entire nation to be active. My aaram classes are now given people an opportunity to relax. I feel they’ve been so good at walking and talking that I want to give them a break.
Game shows usually don’t garner as high TRP as daily soaps and reality shows. Will your TV stint change that? And is this the beginning of a series of small screen commitments?
Let’s hope so. The goal is to put up an entertaining and successful show. I hope we can impress upon the audiences. I’d like to take it one show at a time. Let's see how this one goes.
News has it that, after the success of Paa, you’re planning a film called Maa, with your parents, Aishwarya and yourself.
That just goes to show you that “don’t believe everything you read”. On the green carpet for the premiere of Paa when asked why Aishwarya wasn’t cast in the film, I had joked that we’ll make a sequel called Maa. That joke has come this far.
