While the film fraternity mourns his loss they also celebrate his incredible zest for life.

Amitabh Bachchan, currently out of the country, sends his prayers for the family and says, “I’m deeply grieved. He was a warm hearted and gracious friend and a flamboyant filmmaker.” Zeenat Aman, who romanced the actor in Qurbani, remembers him as someone with the “right attitude. Be it costumes, cuts or make-up, he knew it all before the others could even sniff it. He always had something new, daring and bold on his mind. He would just want to try something new, and exciting in every film.”

Dharmedra, who worked with him in Aadmi Aur Insaan in 1969, recalls, “There would be a certain twinkle in his eyes. He was a charmer in his young age.”

Voicing the sentiment of the fraternity, Bobby Deol says, “He was family. He will be missed immensely.”
