Everyone had something to say when topless pictures of Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, and British Prince Harry, got leaked recently. We asked the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, who was in Delhi on Monday, for her views on the ‘scandals’ and she said: “Everyone has the right to privacy and one must respect that."
People should focus more on what great people Kate and Harry are, and on what great work they are doing for Britain. Harry is an extraordinary soldier who is fighting in Afghanistan for his country, while Kate is a wonderful woman doing a beautiful job for the country.” Sarah’s own topless pictures too made waves in 1992, but that is a closed chapter now.
A charity patron, the Duchess was in the Capital to visit the Indian Head Injury Foundation to support the work the organisation does for diagnosing, treating and rehabilitating patients, especially kids, with brain injuries. “I love kids and want to do a lot for them. That’s why I had been planning a long time to see the great work these guys are doing. I came here to help spread awareness,” said Sarah, who will next visit Jodhpur to meet Maharaja Gajsingh II, also the founder of IHIF, to work on the organisation’s various programmes.
“After that, I also plan to go to Kolkata to do something for women in sex slavery. They create beautiful cloth material and we’ll make dresses out of it and sell them in England. This way they’ll get a job and rise too,” said the 53-year-old.

Does she plan to go sightseeing too? “I’ve been to India many times and done the tourist stuff ... seen the Taj Mahal, been to Rajasthan and more,” she said.
Sarah has also penned many children’s books, made films and done TV and radio shows. “I do such stuff to be able to do my charity work because that’s what I love to do,” said the Duchess, whose new book is called Ballerina Rosie. “It’s about me when I was little and had to go to Ballerina school ... I didn’t get it quite right. There’s another book and a new film I’m working on,” said ‘The Young Victoria’ filmmaker.
