Like the German Bakery in Pune, there are many places in Delhi, which are favoured by revellers from all walks of life, including expats. The terror attacks in Mumbai (26/11) and the recent one in Pune, have made restaurant and pub owners enhance their security cover. Wengers in Connaught Place, has upped the security at its premise. So in place of two guards prior to the Pune blast, now there are four security guards manning the entry gate.
“We’ve given special instruction to our staff to make sure that no body puts his/her bag on the floor. They will politely tell them to keep their bags with them. Everyone needs to be alert about his surroundings to avoid any such tragic event in the future,” says Charanjeet Singh, manager, Wengers.
Singh said the youngsters are aware and helpful when it comes to security checks. Mumbai terror attacks had also made hotels more vigilant. “We have ample number of security guards, bouncers and even two licensed gunmen at our pub since the day we opened our doors in the Capital. Moreover, the staff has been briefed to monitor the guests.
If they’re suspicious of anyone, it’s immediately brought to the management’s notice,” says Shiv Karan Singh of Smoke House Grill.
Kashif Farooq of the nightclub Urban Pind, however, says he hasn’t taken any specific steps post the Pune incident. “We have been more cautious since the Mumbai terror attack. Our staff checks every bag that enters the venue. We have 10 bouncers and then there are cameras installed at every nook and corner of the pub,” he says.

{{/usCountry}}Places that boast of high-profile clientele have to be discreet in security measures. “We cannot make our guests feel awkward. Our staff members are present inside the club to guage any untoward movement. Further, we have the list of all the guests who accompany our members for our record,” says Cyrus Dalal of nightclub Lap.
However, these blasts haven’t deterred foreigners from partying out. “We just can’t sit at home because of the fear of a the mishap,” says Anthony, a French national who studies at a management colleges in Delhi.
