Lighting is one of the most important elements of interior decoration. “Lights are not just about lighting up the house but if used properly they can enhance the beauty of the interiors manifold,” says Preeti Jaipuria who launched her lighting company, Highlights, with an exhibition at the Muse at GK1.
She adds, “The notion that lights are just about bulbs and tube-lights is passé. There are different kinds of lights — for the floor, pendant, ceiling, table and walls— that fit all bill.”

Preeti who returned to India three years ago after completing her education, realised the need for customised lighting to meet the requirements of her interior designer mother Rano Singh Jaipuria’s clients.
The collection on display had some of her own designs along with a range of lamps collected from various parts of the world. Her collection is priced between Rs 5,000 to Rs 55,000.
Designer Nikhil Mehra and wife Vidushi were one of the first guests to arrive at the do. The two who will soon be moving into a new house were seen observing the collection keenly.
Another designer out shopping was Manav Gangwani, who moved into a new house recently. But he wasn’t looking for any lights for his living room, which is lit up with just candles and no electric light.
