For the film fraternity, Friday’s are always fraught with tension... it’s the day of release... when the fate of the film you’ve put your heart and soul into is decided! But this Friday, that tension has spread across the industry.
My Name is Khan is ready to present itself to audiences across the world however the one question that will be on everyone’s lips is whether it will be allowed to or will the release be hampered by unnecessary violence and strife? I hope you all have plans to go out there and catch the film over the weekend in support of a great effort by Shah Rukh, Karan, Kajol and the cast and crew. We have to stand up to for what is right. Furthermore, given the names behind the film, I’m very sure it will be an entertaining and insightful experience.
On a lighter note, as I sit miles away from home, I am suddenly surrounded by LOVE. It’s the buildup to Valentine's Day and everywhere I look, there is mush all around! I’m fairly sure you guys are experiencing the same back home. Every year around this time a huge debate erupts around V-Day. Why do we need one day to celebrate love? Hasn’t it become so commercial? Is it not just an excuse for brands to peddle their wares?
It is a tad bit overrated, even though I am such a hopeless romantic. It’s not the concept per se but more the fact that it has become very clichéd. I love LOVE and support anything that gives you an opportunity to express your feelings but I am not one to support lack of creativity especially when it come to love. The problem with V-day now is that it’s no longer a personal thing... something that you have spent days thinking of and preparing for to show your partner how much you love him/her. Today, it’s so easy to just book a meal with a restaurant and they will organise everything. Mobile service providers have messages that you can download, hotels have special packages in which they take care of everything, brands have hampers and the like ready to be picked up and ‘gifted’... where is the love in that?

So my advice this V-day, is to get creative... make the effort... think, plan, execute! I promise it will be appreciated! Remember for women, it’s the small thoughtful gestures that make an impact — a handwritten note, chivalry, the personal effort. that’s what matters to us. And for all you happily single people out there, don’t fret... here’s a tried and tested tip from me. Get all your other single friends together, plan an elaborate evening together and go out there and celebrate the love... the more the merrier!
