Sendhil Ramamurthy was a huge hit with the American TV series, Heroes, and now he is carving a niche for himself in the Indian film industry, too. After Ekta Kapoor’s Shor, he will now be seen in Gurinder Chadha’s comedy It’s aWonderful Afterlife.
Ask Sendhil about his favourite Bollywood stars and he doles out name such as Abhishek Bachchan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. And he has his favourites among the ladies, too. “Given a chance, I would love to work with Deepika Padukone, Bipasha and Katrina,” says Ramamurthy, who’s looking forward to watching 3 Idiots and My Name isKhan.
Speaking about the experience of working with veteran actress Shabana Azmi in Chadha’s movie, Ramamurthy says, “She is wonderful to work with and has a great essence of acting.”
The American actor plays a British cop in the film, which wasn’t an easy task. “I’d little time to research and study my character. I’d to work a lot on my dialect.”
Interestingly, Sendhil’s middle name is inspired by Big B. “My mom is a huge fan of Amitabh Bachchan and she wanted to name me after him, whereas my father insisted on a traditional name. Ultimately, mom succeeded,” he says.
