Dear Diary,

It was my friend’s birthday and we were hanging out in McDonald’s. We celebrated it the usual way — blowing the candle, cutting the cake, and singing the ‘Happy Birthday’ song. Outside, we saw some street children. Instinctively, we started distributing slices of our leftover cake to the kids. When I reached a little girl, she said: “Didi, kya hum poori zindagi dusro ka bacha hua khana khate rahenge... ? (Sister, will be eating other people’s leftovers all our lives?).” I had no reply. I stayed silent.

Dear Diary,

One recent morning when I was still asleep, a friend called me saying, “Tu to chaa gyaa yaar (you are everywhere buddy).” He told me that I’ve had my picture published in the Fashionista section of HT City. I immediately ran to the door to get the paper. And there I was — surrounded with girls. I mean, I was the only guy in the whole section. I ran to my parents’ bedroom to show them the miracle and later I text-messaged all my friends, including those whom I never cared for. I uploaded the e-newspaper on my Orkut and Facebook account. In no time, I had become the center of attraction. I was feeling like Shah Rukh Khan.
