Producer-director Pahlaj Nihalani today said that the multiplex owners have turned "dictators" as it is they who decide how many shows of a particular film would run which in turn is "killing new talent".

"Multiplex owners have become supreme. They dictate how many shows of a film are to be screened. This situation is killing new talent because people also go by the psychology that if less shows of a particular film have been screened it must not be that good to watch. That way the public hardly gets to see the films," Nihalani said here.

He also expressed concern over high ticket pricing by the multiplexes, saying that the government should put a ceiling on what should be the upper limit at which tickets ought to be sold. "High prices are keeping common cinema goers away," he said.

Nihalani, who is currently working on making Aankhen-2 after successful run of the earlier film, said that good scripts make a good film.

He also expressed his concern over mushrooming of private acting schools, particularly in Delhi, which were not making any valuable contribution to hone talent.

He also said that a handful of them were doing a good job by providing a platform to the budding talent close to their doorstep as all of them cannot enroll themselves in acclaimed institutions.
