Mumbai International Boat Show kicks off

The 2010 Mumbai International Boat Show’s exhibition kick-started on Friday, off the Gateway of India. Ocean Style, Sunreef, Larson, Drago and Sealegs showcased the latest power boats, speed boats, motor boats, kayaks, jet skis and luxury yachts.

The 2010 Mumbai International Boat Show’s exhibition kick-started on Friday, off the Gateway of India. Ocean Style, Sunreef, Larson, Drago and Sealegs showcased the latest power boats, speed boats, motor boats, kayaks, jet skis and luxury yachts. Thirty-two international and 15 Indian boat manufacturing companies are taking part in this year’s event. Some of the boats are also on display at an exhibition at Bandra-Kurla Complex.

About 1,000 people, a mix of businessmen and socialites attended Friday’s marina event, which, was inaugurated by Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, AVSM, Indian Coast Guard director general. But not a single celebrity was spotted.

So far, about 3,000 people have already visited the BKC event. There were no celebs though. Apparently high worth individuals had a private showing. The boat show, which has been going on since 2007, attracts 20,000 visitors each year. It continues til February 21 from 11am to 5pm and is open to the public.
