The fact that the Indian entertainment industry doesn’t have enough female lyricists has always been a matter of discussion. Lyricist Pinky Poonawala, who recently wrote the title track of a web show on OTT, says, “It’s challenging being a female lyricist in this industry. Although I have written around 90 songs and jingles over last 10 years, every song I write makes me feel excited and nervous.”

Talking about her song from Modern Love Mumbai, the lyricist adds, “The biggest lesson of life is that all love starts with self-love. It’s like meeting yourself, pyaar aaina dikha deta hai. So, for me, the song Mausam Hai Pyaar conveys many shades of love and self-love.”

On her upcoming projects, she says, “I am looking forward to a few songs from some upcoming web series. Also, I have a few independent songs coming up. I am also excited about a Sufi folk song penned by me.”
