Never-seen-before Chaplin film found!

Who would have thought of finding a lost movie of comedy genius Charlie Chaplin in a tin? A man stumbled upon an unknown movie of Chaplin in an old tin which he bought through e-Bay for just £3.20.

A never-seen-before Charlie Chaplin film was found in a antique tin by a man who bought it on eBay for a meagre £3.20 (approximately Rs 249).Morace Park was looking for antiques on eBay when he stumbled on an item that was listed casually as an ‘old film’,

and even then he was really more interested in the tin it was in, The Guardian reported.

“It had a lovely look to it,” said Park but little did he know about the container which included a previously unknown film by the legendary comic artist.

“I Googled it. I couldn’t find any sign of it on the Internet,” Park said. The film, with a duration of more than seven minutes has a mixture of footage of Chaplin and animation.

“It starts with live shots of Chaplin. It then turns into a dream-scape. We see a Zeppelin bombing attack. And then we see Chaplin taking the mickey out of the Zeppelin, at the time a powerful instrument of terror,” he added.

Park then contacted his neighbour, John Dyer, who previously headed education for the British Board of Film Classification.

The pair dig deep into the pages of history to learn about the film which was unknown to film historians and Chaplin experts. The duo’s research led to the result that the film shot on 35mm nitrate film, had been put together in World War I as a propaganda.
