and Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘squeeze me’ are passe. Gen Next has an all new lingo and this time it comes from American sitcoms that are all the rage at the moment. Every prankster must say

Bazinga

, and flirting starts with ‘How you doin?’ Anything that gets everyone grooving is now ‘legen-wait for it-dary’.

Emmy-award winning show

How I Met Your Mother

is a hot favourite among college-goers. “I love the show! As Barney Stinson (a character on the show) says, ‘It’s a thing’,” says Aakriti Hiteshi, a final year BBA student. Hiteshi explains that terms from the show, spoken like the way the characters say them, are part of everyday vocabulary on campus. “Everyone says ‘awesome’, ‘legendary’ and ‘wait-for-it’ like Barney does on the show. Whenever we have interviews, I say ‘suit up’ to my friends,” she says.

A successful prank no longer ends with

chop ho gayi

. A prankster’s new success shout is ‘Bazinga’ — a word used in the sitcom The Big Bang Theory.

The 90s sitcom

F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

is still a rage among teenagers. “Everyone still says things like ‘Oh my God’ and ‘

How you doin’

.

A lot of people still talk like Chandler on campus — his sarcasm is very cool and even I’ve started cracking jokes like Chandler does,” says Rahul Sharma.
