Recently, a publication reported that actor Neha Dhupia had undergone botox treatment to get rid of laughter lines and other finer lines on her face. When asked, Dhupia flexes her facial muscles and says, "Look! I can move my face in seven directions! I’m a very organic person. I don’t even get hair extentions and fake nails — let alone Botox."
Asked whether she has finally switched from ‘oomphy’ to ‘meaty’ roles, Dhupia admits that making the transition from films such as Sheesha and Julie to Ek Chalis Ki Last Local and Maharathi hasn’t been easy.
“But, what you see in the latter, is who the real Neha Dhupia is. These roles have made people believe that there is more to me than just oomph,” she says. The actor confesses that what the audience saw of her earlier wasn’t the person she really is. “I was trying to be someone I wasn’t. I was branded seductive and sexy, which I don’t think I am. Playing ‘sexy’ roles wasn’t my forte. Sometimes to make that one correct move ahead, you have to go four steps behind,” says Dhupia, adding that she’s looking for a change yet again, but doesn’t know what the change would really be.
Asked if she still feels that it’s only sex that sells in Bollywood, she says, “The recent biggest blockbuster had three women parading in bikinis in the middle of exotic locales (referring to the Housefull actors Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta and Jiah Khan). What else can I say then, haan?”
