Katrina Kaif says Shah Rukh Khan has not given her a series of expensive gifts — something that has Bollywood buzzing for a while now. Insiders say now that Kat is not seeing Shah Rukh’s arch rival Salman Khan, SRK is out to win her loyalties. “No. (There’s) Nothing like that,” she said during a visit to Delhi on Wednesday. The industry believes that SRK recommended her for director Farah Khan’s flick Happy New Year, but Kat denies that too. “No,” is what she says when asked if she’s doing the film.
All these years, Kat deliberately maintained a distance from SRK due to her fondness for her then boyfriend Salman Khan, Shah Rukh’s arch rival. It was on Kat’s birthday a few years ago that both Khans had a fallout.
However, her announcement of working with SRK in Yash Chopra’s romantic drama last year came as a surprise to both the fraternity and fans. She recently completed a month-long leg of shooting for the film in London with SRK, where the two are known to have developed a camaraderie.
It is here that Shah Rukh reportedly gifted her expensive jackets so that she could keep herself warm, and also a particular gym bag that she was looking for, with the note, “Have a great workout”.
There were also reports that the two watched Agent Vinod together, and that SRK personally escorted her out of the Mumbai airport on their return from London and even lent his security to her. Kat, however, says “That was news even to me. I don’t know where those stories came from.” But of course, that does not stop her from praising the actor. “We had an amazing time shooting in London ... it’s a dream come true to work with Shah Rukh.”
