As important as Christmas is in our modern religious culture, the traditional celebration of this holiday has become a central part of the church year. The worship service is the main part of the revelry in the church.
"We have a special prayer service beginning at 11.45pm on December 24, which will go on till midnight. On the festival day, we will have different sessions of prayers in English, Hindi and Tamil," says Father Dennis Lall of the Cathedral Church of Redemption. The prayers will be followed by carol singing in the evening. The church is also organising a special gala for its Sunday school. The day will end with the giving away of gifts.

Situated near Birla Mandir and Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, this peaceful church occupies a special place in the heart of the Capital. It organises some special and exclusive events on the festival. On Christmas Eve, a Christmas Vigil Service is organised, wherein prayers and scriptures are read, just an hour before midnight. Carol singing and prayers go on on all day long. Watch out for the traffic jam around this place, though!
