Apart from prominent industrialists, celebrities, too, are getting in on the action. While filmmaker Mani Ratnam hoped for a hole in one during the Chennai leg of the tournament, actor R Madhavan showed off his golfing skills in Ahmedabad, and designer Nikhil Mehra was one of the players during the Delhi leg of the 12-leg tournament.

The tournament is a rage internationally, too. Born in 1991, it came to India in 2008. This year, 55 countries across the world participated in the tournament, which saw participation by more than 79,000 amateur golfers.

India’s golfing enthusiasts are only adding to the numbers. From 220 golfers in 2008, this year, the tournament - in its third season in the country - saw participation by over 1,200 golf enthusiasts across 11 cities. “The Audi Quattro Cup is ranked amongst the biggest and most popular amateur golf tournaments worldwide. It is a popular sporting event as well as an ideal opportunity to establish new contacts,” says Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.

Where: Classic Golf Resort, Manesar
When: Saturday, September 4
