Raghu Ram makes singing debut

Host-producer records theme track of Roadies 9 that has been composed by Agnee vocalist K Mohan.

Popularly known as the ‘rudest man on Indian television’, producer Raghu Ram is now set to make his singing debut. Though he has known Raghu for many years and was aware that the host could sing well, Mohan was still uncertain about how recording the track professionally would work out.

“Raghu has been one of my closest friends for a long time. He was with me all through my struggling days, when I was trying to form Agnee,” reminisces Mohan, before adding, “I remember him singing a lot of folk songs, but recording in a studio is a different ball game, which is why we were a little skeptical about whether he will be able to perform well or not. But he completed the entire process within an hour. It was a proud moment for me, and I can now vouch for the fact that he is a good singer. It doesn’t sound like a non-singer singing the track.”

This is being touted as the first time a band has been roped in for the show. “We performed in Jaipur, at the beginning of the Roadies’ first journey, where all the selected contestants meet for the first time on the show. Actually, we (Agnee) met the Roadies participants even before Raghu did,” says Mohan, adding that the ‘angry young host’ will not be seen jamming with them on the television show. “We went and performed on a version of the song where only I am singing.”
