She was in the news when she was open about her relationship with Ranbir Kapoor. And even after their break up, there’s no respite for Deepika Padukone. More so after revealing she caught her ex cheating on her red-handed.

On his part, Kapoor shrugged off the label of being ‘the cheat’ because “she had not named him.” Besides, he asserted, they continued to remain “good friends”. But that’s not the end of the story. It is learnt that he called and confronted her for speaking this to a magazine, thereby sparking off an unwanted controversy. When asked about the verbal duel on the phone, Padukone brushed it aside saying it never happened. "I’m fond of Ranbir and we are good friends. There’s no problem, thank you," she maintains, adding, "I had not named anyone in that interview. But the media speculated and thought that I was talking about Ranbir.

However, that’s not the case." Probe further to reveal the identity of the cheating ex and the actor clamps up. "I’ve said whatever I wanted to say… And whoever had to understand the message has got it loud and clear. There’s nothing more for me to say on this," she asserts.

For now, she’s looking forward to the release of Kunal Kohli’s Break Ke Baad with Imran Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker’s Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey with Abhishek Bachchan. While she plays an aspiring actress in Kohli’s modern day rom-com, Padukone relives the revolutionary Kalpana Datta in the latter. “Although I could explore Aliya Khan’s character in Break Ke Baad, I had to go by Ashu sir’s characterisation as Kalpana was a real person. So naturally, I couldn’t afford to be frivolous while portraying that role,” she enthuses.

Interestingly, like the two films, her two male co-stars were just as different, she reveals. “Imran is very particular about everything he’s doing. And would ensure that he had got everything perfect for the shot. On the other hand, Abhishek was a clown. He’d crack all sorts of jokes and the moment Ashu sir called for ‘action!’, he’d be in his character, while we’d be caught trying to be ready for the shot,” she explains.

With Lafangey Parindey failing to match the success of Housefull and Karthik Calling Karthik, Padukone is hoping BKB and KHJJS end the year on a high note for her.
